Customs prescriptions

When a shipment arrives to Brazil. Customs clearence process cannot be started if pre-registration of client at customs is not completed.
To pre-register client it is needed the following documents before shipment arrives to Brasil:

• Customer ID card or protocol, Brazilian Social Security – CPF – or protocol.
• Power of attorney.
• Bill of lading.

Duty free entry of goods and new ítems for personal use if these are:

• Not for comercial purposes
• New Items : only reasonable iquantities of similar ítems per category are allowed and must be in accordance with the clients profile and profession. The purchase invopice must be presented to customs authorities.
  (The above does not apply to consumer ítems such as foodstuff , cosmetics, etc., which are not considered by Brazilian customs as household goods and can´t be included in the move).

If the client is moving to Brazil under a temporary work visa, then all the ítems brought to Brazil as part of the move will have to be exported when the visa esxpires. If left in Brazil, taxes and fines will be applicated.

Shipment must originate from the same country of owner´s nationality or where he was living atr the timne of shipment.

Returning brazilians and citizens with permanent visa must prove residence abroad for at least one year. A certificate must be obtained at origin at the Brazilian Consulate to avoid taxes. Additionally in order to be tax exempted, the owner of the move must not have exceded 44 days in Brazil during the 12 months before the definite return.

Diplomats removals

Duty free entry.
As for alcohol importation for diplomats the law applies to all people , diplomats or not. The limit is 12 liters for foreign diplomats as well as for anybody.
